About Pawformance

Pawformance is based on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia. We are heavily involved in dog sports, spending most of our weekends competing in obedience, flyball or agility or at breed shows (often attending more than one event per weekend!). The dogs are first and foremost part of my family and they enjoy all the creature comforts of home life!
I have loved dogs since I was a young child. I have vivid memories of staying up late studying my dog encyclopaedia and reading about the different breeds. When I was 11, I was lucky enough to get my first dog, a Beagle named Toby. In 2008, a few years after Toby's passing, I was in a position to welcome another dog into my life. After much consideration of which breed to get, I stumbled across Keeshonden and instantly fell in love! Almost by fate, the very same day I phoned one of the Keeshond breeders, their litter had just been born. Two months later, Jedi entered my life and as they say - the rest is history!
Jedi was a dream puppy who showed a great aptitude for obedience at barely 3 months of age. It was then a series of events occurred that meant my life would never be the same - we began training for competition dog sports. Jedi's puppyhood was a breeze! He was an absolute angel, who never chewed or destroyed anything. I often joke that he came pre-trained because he would pick up new skills so quickly - it was as if he was reading my mind. For that reason, I decided to welcome a second puppy into the house much sooner than I had initially intended!
By then I was in love with spitz breeds and knew that the next addition had to be from the spitz family. The decision was easily made when I got the opportunity to share some cuddles with two Finnish Lapphund puppies at a dog show. They instantly won me over and in September 2008, Ahsoka joined the family. Ahsoka has been an absolute joy since she arrived - her love of life is infectious and you can't help but smile when you are around her.
I also have a real soft spot for working breeds particularly the Australian Kelpie, which is why I foster for Australian Working Dog Rescue. One foster dog, Skipper ended up staying after winning me over and is now known as Revan. Click here to see our past and present foster dogs.
I am a large advocate for training spitz breeds and thoroughly believe that they are no more difficult to train than any other breed if you know what makes them tick! If you would like to chat more about either of these beautiful breeds or about dog training in general, please feel free to contact me via email or phone!
